Social networking is so much fun! My bff when I was in elementary school in Germany found me on facebook a few months back. I ALWAYS wondered where she ended up and how she was doing and now with facebook, twitter and classmates.com to name a few… we can keep in touch with old friends and make new friends along the way! So today, look up an old classmate, a past love, a person who was really nice to you in 3rd grade or anyone that you sit around and wonder “what ever happened to so and so?” Touch base with old friends, say hello to new friends and live An Inspired Life!

My friend Diane Dengall painted this picture of my children…. With her fingers and bits of rolled up toilet paper. When Diane was young, her family could not afford to buy her paint brushes but her desire to paint was stronger than her circumstances. She taught herself to paint with her fingers and grew into a very celebrated artist who has done paintings for Oprah and Mr Rogers among others. The moral of the story is that nothing should hold you back. Determination is an amazing quality and will get you far in life.

In our house Friday is pizza and a movie night! We all look forward to it… it means a night where I don’t have to cook dinner and we all get to sit around and relax and spend time together. If you don’t have kids, plan a Friday night in with your Sweetie, you can snuggle up on the couch and zone out to some Hollywood entertainment! There is a Taoist story of an old farmer who had worked his crops for many years. One day his horse ran away. Upon hearing the news, his neighbors came to visit. “Such bad luck,” they said sympathetically.
“Maybe,” the farmer replied.
The next morning the horse returned, bringing with it three other wild horses. “How wonderful,” the neighbors exclaimed.
“Maybe,” replied the old man.
The following day, his son tried to ride one of the untamed horses, was thrown, and broke his leg. The neighbors again came to offer their sympathy on his misfortune.
“Maybe,” answered the farmer.
The day after, military officials came to the village to draft young men into the army. Seeing that the son’s leg was broken, they passed him by. The neighbors congratulated the farmer on how well things had turned out.
“Maybe,” said the farmer.
*** This is one of my favorite stories! It demonstrates that situations are not good or bad, they just are. Often something that seems really bad happens but a blessing comes out of it. If you can learn to find the blessing in all things, even those that seem “bad” you will truly be living An Inspired Life! ***
